The Other Side

In the beginning of the story, Jazz is watching the crime scene with no one knowing. He uses some of dear old dad's tricks to watch it carefully and thinks about what happened and who did it. Instead of forgetting about his horrible past and moving on; he embraces it and uses it to his advantage throughout the book. If I were in his shoes, I wouldn't want to recall all the horrors that Dear Old Dad put me through, and I definitely do not want any involvement in the case. Jazz chose a path that not many people would would ever think about, instead of thinking about a better future and a different lifestyle; he remembers all that he learned and experienced during his childhood, and most of it eats away at him mentally.
