Jazz

Jazz is spying on a crime scene and sees one of the cops put something in the evidence bag and is surprised to see what it was.  It said he got nervous and started going over his alibi, saying that the body looked like it was fresh and that the girl could have died no more that six hours ago. He explained in his head that he was at home asleep six hours ago and his grandma was his witness.. After all of this at the end of the chapter he tells us that it was a human finger. He makes it seem like and builds it up to be his finger I don't understand why the author would do that it didn't make sense to me.

I agree with post. The author built up the scene to be very intense when in the end, the outcome wasn't that big of a deal. I thought that the evidence that the police had found would have been revelant to Jazz. I think the author made it seem so suspenseful to show the inner conflicts Jazz has with himself since he believes that everyone thinks that he will follow in his fathers foot steps.
