Favorite Character
My favorite character in this novel was Jazz. Barry Lyga has created a very likable character that most teenagers can enjoy. He deals with most situations that teens our age go through, while also acting as a detective. His interest for investigative work and murders is extremely interesting, which makes Jazz a very unique character. When the most recent murder occurs in Lobo's Nod, Jazz is there to predict and determine if the killer will strike again. These characteristics make Jazz a interesting character.
Impressionist Chapters
One thing that I really enjoyed about the writing of I Hunt Killers would have to be how various random chapters they would have the POV of the Impressionist. At first I was confused on the first chapter like this but I just re-read it and I understood what was happening. I thought it was interesting to see what the killer in the story was thinking. It gave you sort of an insight of what was or about to happen I really enjoyed that and have not seen what was happening from the good and bad guy. It usually just consists of what was happening to the good guys. It was a twist that made the book more interesting.
A Strong Friendship
As Jazz said in the book I Hunt Killers him and Howie had been friends for a long time, Howie is the one person who was still friends with Jazz even when everyone found out that Billy was a killer and Jazz had to live with that traumatic experience. Though Howie still was true to Jazz when everyone else thought Jazz was or could be a killer too. Howie thought otherwise and believes his friend is not an evil killer like his dad. I think that Jazz being more the leader and stronger role, compared to Howie being more of a follower and being weaker because of his hemophilia. Where he bleeds and bruises so easily. This leader follower relationship is shown when Jazz takes Howie to the morgue with him Howie goes without a problem. Howie is there to help and support his friends. With really whatever he needs. Though he re pays Howie by getting tattoos for him since Howie is unable to, that’s something only a true friend would do. Howie is important to Jazz I think from what is said in the book that Howie keeps Jazz grounded and feeling normal. This is what he needs since he second guesses himself not knowing if he really is normal. If you truly see their relationship and understand it you will see Jazz being more grounded. Being with Howie can keep him in the right mindset. When Howie got injured trying to stop the Impressionist, all Jazz was thinking was the help Howie and all Jazz wanted was him to be okay. Unlike Billy who would want to see that last breathe of life leave Howie. The friendship between Anne Beth and Percy in the Percy Jackson series is strong and turns into a relationship. But by far this friendship is one of the strongest I have seen throughout many of the books I read.

Overall
This book I Hunt Killers was interesting and I mostly enjoyed reading it. I enjoy reading mystery's and I like that you didn't know the killer until the end so the whole book was a guessing game. It kept me on my toes, even made want to keep reading to find out what would happen next. The only part I didn't really care for was the end. The author left it with a cliff hanger and I like to know exactly what happened and what will happen. I don't like not knowing and being kept guessing. In my opinion an ending should answer all your questions and tie up all loose ends.
My Favorite Character
My favorite character was Howie. He showed the true meaning of friendship. He was loyal beyond belief and was constantly putting his life at risk to help Jazz. Although he wasn't physically intimidating and wouldn't be much help in a fight, he had his own ways of helping. He was sharp as a tack and was powerful with his words. He also was there to help keep Jazz a little bit sane. He was Jazz's reminder of the danger they were walking into and Howie was often the one who would call the police when they were needed. Of all the characters, Howie's perfect example of friendship made him my favorite.
FEAR and LOVE
Billy got tattoos on his fingers that spelled out "FEAR" and "LOVE". I think the author chose these words because Jazz was afraid to truly love people in case he turned out to be a monster too. He feared love. Billy loved his wife and now she's gone, too. Do you think Billy also feared love and this was one way that Jazz was like his father?
Overall
I Hunt Killers is a great book. It is very interesting to read and I could not put it down until I had finished it, and unlike most other books I could not figure out who the killer was until I had finished. It is fast paced and doesn’t have a boring part in it. It is full of suspense and mystery; also it had a little bit of a romance in it. One of my favorite things about it is how Jasper somewhat explains what the killer is thinking and explains why the killer does what he does. And that he explains what his dad did and how he did it, along with what happened to him as a child growing up with his dad.
Before Reading
When I first got the summer reading list, this book immediately caught my eye. The title just jumped out at me, because the word "killers" incites excitement. I think it'll be an interesting book, because its about hunting someone who'd normally be the hunter. I look forward to reading this book.

Ending
As the book drew to a close the murders got more and more intense. The killers patterns and tactics became more clear to the police only because of jazz. The very elaborate murders were interesting and kept me reading, but I was upset with the way the book ended. The end was very unclear to me. I would definitely recommend this book for someone to read.
Choosing the book and beginning
I hunt killers was the only book of all of them that appealed to me the slightest. I had my doubts about choosing the book, that it would be the classic murder mystery, one that is quickly solved and the rest of the book is boring. although I was proven wrong because I Hunt Killers couldn't have been filled with any more twist, turns, and long, deep, thought out tactics. I thought that the first couple of chapters were well planned by the author because they allowed us as readers to learn a little about Jazz and Howie , but saved plenty of characteristics to be discovered.
Favorite Character
My favorite character in this book would have to be Jazz. He is my favorite character because I found him easy to relate to because he is a teenager in high school who goes threw a lot of high school problems. He is very mature and smart, and knows a lot about the crime that happened in the town. Since he is mature and wise he is definitely my favorite character.
Overall
Overall I feel like this book kept me on my toes. I never expected half of the plot twists, and I was really happy that I picked it. Seeing Jazz go through everything he's been through also made me sympathize with him because of how much different things are in his life than mine. My only real complaint would be the ending. I wasn't happy with the cliffhanger because I feel like it ruined the book almost. But if there were a sequel to this book I would definitely read it and I would suggest this book to people.
Jazz
Jazz was by far my favorite character, maybe because i felt bad for the life he has been living or because we get to live everything through him. And that's what I love how we get to know everything about him from the past to the present. About what it was like to live with a dad as a serial killer. At times i really felt bad for him because of how sad and messed up everything was. But at the same time we also got to see the good things he learned from such a horrible thing. Overall the way we see it all through Jazz's perspective made me intrigued and made me love the book that much more.
Favorite Character
My favorite character was Howie. Most people have said Jazz is their favorite character, but Howie is mine because he keeps Jazz held together. He is such a loyal friend and he is always there and lightens the mood a little. I feel like I would want a friend like Howie because I would be able to rely on him. Even though he does have a disability, his presence in the book made me feel like things would be okay for Jazz.
Before Reading
When I first looked at the list of books we needed to read this summer, I immediately knew that this was the book I wanted to read. Some of my friends told me that this book wasn't going to be good and it's not exciting. After reading this book I totally disagree with them because this book kept me wanting to read more and it was full of surprises.
Jasper's father
Jasper's father billy dent really surprised me with some of the things he says and some of the things he taught his son at such a young age. I had no idea how detailed serial killers get in killing their victims, it is like an art. One thing that I didn't know is that serial killers take "trophies" after they kill their victims. I thought that was very interesting. Also all of the preparation and stalking of the victim, and then watching over the body at night in the morgue. The art of being a serial killer is a huge complicated process and it's something that I really learned a lot about after reading this book
Choosing the book
When we got the list of books none of them really caught my attention, Until I saw this stories summary. I love murder mystery kind of books and they always catch my attention. So I decide to read it, and I couldn't be happier it kept me guessing the whole time and really kept me interested. I am very happy I read this book and would recommend it to anyone who wants a thriller.
Ending
Overall, I didn't really expect what happened in the ending. I didn't think that the murderer was Jeff until I read the ending. There were many plot twists at the end as well. All of my questions about the ending were answered at the end including who was the murderer and what happened to the murderer. Overall, I don't think that this is the best book ever written, but it was fairly decent and I would recommend it to someone who is interested in this type of genre.
Ending
Personally I dislike cliff hangers and I know they are meant to build suspense or to keep you thinking, but I didn’t think it was the right way to end the book. It was a great book that like I said before kept me on my toes but I’d really like to know what happened instead of being left in the dark.
Favorite Character
Throughout this book my favorite character has been Jazz. He is a very relatable character because he goes through a lot of the problems that every teenager does in high school, and he also deals with a rough past which most people have gone through also. Jazz’s father also had taught him a lot about murder which had help him when he learns about the crime that had happened in his town. He is a relatable and smart character and that is why I like him.
Before Reading
When we first got the book list for this summer I didn’t decide right away to read this book. I thought it would be another predictable story plot and a book I would have to force my self to read. Then a lot of my friends told me it was a great book and was worth reading. So I got the book and I was pleasantly surprised. This book kept me on my toes throughout the whole thing and I would recommend this to any of my friends because it is great read.
ending
I also thought that the ending was interesting and I liked the plot twists; like the murderer being Jeff Fulton, and unanswered questions and overall enjoyed the ending. The story remained action filled right up to the end. I really enjoyed the book i would defiantly recommend it to a friend.
favorite character
My favorite character would have to be Jazz. It's very easy for kids to relate to Jazz because he deals with things that every teenager in high school has to deal with. Jazz was very brave because I don't know what I would do if my own father was a killer.
before reading
I must say that it was the only book on the list that got my interest after reading all the summary's.My first thought was that this novel was going to be like any other mystery book, but I was wrong.I would definitely recommend this book to my friends because its am easy read and it's very enjoyable.
8/27/13
What some might find gross, disgusting and unappealing in the novel; I actually found quite interesting. In the story the author often used very strong dialog filled with dark humor and sexual dialog. Some scenes in the book were very graphic and I honestly found this as good writing. I feel that the more details that are used and the more graphic it gets, the better you can get a visual image and have a better understanding of what is happening in the book. Some scenes that got rather graphic were when Jasper was forced to watch his father kill people and nailed to the ceiling. Another scene was when Jeff Fulton's daughter was killed then stripped naked and nailed to the roof of the church. I really don't mind scenes like these and actually prefer it when it comes to horror and mystery novels like this. It only adds to the drama and makes the book that much better.
The novel, "I Hunt Killers" by Barry Lyga was a rather entertaining mystery/horror novel. I really enjoy watching and reading about mysteries so this novel was almost perfect for me. The book's main character Jasper, also known by the nickname of Jazz, in my eyes is a very likable character despite his complex nature. Although Jazz is the son of the world’s most infamous serial killer he is still willing enough to embark on a journey with the police in search for a new murder in order to clear his name. Even though I found Jazz as an attention-grabbing individual, other characters such as his Grandmother and Connie might have been better established citizens; which added on to the drama and greatness of the book. Overall I really enjoyed the novel and would recommend it to readers who are in search for a real adventure.
Jazz and his father
I found it very interesting that a serial killer would involve his son in his career. I feel like a father would know what the affect would be on a child if they were to become a serial killer. All the dread and guilt but that just shows his father isn't normal. Jazz was never really involved in the actual crimes with his father, he was just told in detail of what they were like. Jazz isn't your ordinary teenager. I wouldn't be able to imagine what he was experiencing. And as Jazz got older I am sure it was hard for him to differentiate form right to wrong because it was all he knew. Jazz remembers how his father made him watch his dog's death, which must've been terrifying.
Ending
I really disliked the ending of the book I hunt killers. I hate it when books end on cliff hangers and I feel like this book did. This book had a good plot and it all led up to nothing. This made me very disappointed. I felt like it had no closure. If I could change the ending I would.
Favorite Character
My favorite character in the book I Hunt Killers would definitely have to be Jazz. He has gone through some rough times in his childhood, but he has persevered through all that. He doesn't let the past overtake him in the end. He's a strong willed person so I admire him for that. I also like him for the fact that he cares about everyone. He risks his life trying to make sure his friends are safe and to stop the impressionist from killing more people. He is a brave boy who overcame a terrible past.
Before Reading
I must say that it was the only book on the list that got my interest after reading all the summary's. From the summary, I thought it was going to be like every other murder book but as I started reading it I had to change my opinion. Gladly, the the plot was interesting and the ending was unexpected. I liked the book a lot.
Favorite character.
My favorite character in the novel has to be Howie. Howie is my favorite character int he novel because heis very loyal and dedicated to his best friend Jazz. He is also my favorite character because he helps Jazz through his tough times. Even though Howie has a medical condition, he does not do anything to deceive his best friend Jazz. Thats it.
Before reading/ First thoughts
I was very skeptic of reading this book for the summer. It was the only book that didnt look bad. My first thought was that this novel was going to be like any other mystery book, but I was wrong. Upon reading the first couple of pages, it seemed pretty interesting. Mystery is not my favorite genre, but this book had something about it, that made you want to keep reading.
Favorite Character
Throughout I Hunt Killers I found that my favorite part about the book was the character Jazz. I think the reason that many people including myself, like Jazz, is because he is so relatable. Jazz faces many of the problems that normal high school kids face. Also, like almost everyone else has mentioned, Jazz struggles with a troubled past. I saw someone else also mention that because of Jazz having such a troubled past could cause him to be an unreliable character. However, that's the reason I liked Jazz as a character so much. You don't know if the information he gives you is the truth or not. It makes the book that much more of a mystery and made the book more enjoyable for me.
Before Reading
Before I picked up I Hunt Killers, I was very skeptical. This book wasn't my first choice, however because of vacation, and not being able to get my hands on my first choice, I had to go with this book. I thought this book was just going to be a way to pass the time on a six hour flight, however I found myself heavily engaged in the book, and especially in the life of Jazz. I Hunt Killers was definitely not what I was expecting, and in the end I'm glad that I ended up reading it.
Favorite Character
My favorite character in this book has to be Howie. Howie stuck by Jazz's side throughout the book and he added a comedy twist to it too. Even though he has hemophilia, he can joke around about it, which is reassuring to other characters. Howie was a little odd but it gave him a unique character which is why he is my favorite.
8/26/13
Favorite Character
My favorite character would have to be Jazz. It's very easy for kids to relate to Jazz because he deals with things that every teenager in high school has to deal with. Although, some things that Jazz has to deal with are things that no teenager should have to deal with. I find it interesting how he deals with his haunting past. The knowledge he has about murder that he learned from his father really helps him when he comes across the crime that happened in his town. I believe that the author really created a good character in Jazz because he fits the plot very nicely.
Before reading
Before reading this book, I was pretty skeptical about the plot and whether it not this book would be worth my time. I thought that this book was going to be one of those corny books that we always have to read for summer reading. Well I was completely wrong. This book was very interesting and it was a great read from start to finish. I really liked the mystery aspect of the book because it always kept me guessing and on my toes. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends because its am easy read and it's very enjoyable.
Before Reading
When I got the list of books to choose from, there were a bunch of books that did not interest me at all. But when I saw this book, it stood out to me. Not only was it the best book on the list, but it actually sounded like a good book. I Hunt Killers looked like a good mystery that I wanted to hear more about, so I chose it.
The beginning
So I'm obviously not that far into reading this book , but I was wondering if the "finger" Jazz was talking about in the beginning had any significance to it for him to even mention it?
8/25/13
Overall
Overall, I really enjoyed reading I Hunt Killers. I never was bored when reading it and i feel that there was never a dull moment from start to finish. I like how the book got right to the point in the beginning and from then on the book just got better. I like the mystery aspect of the book and how it kept you guessing who "The Impressionist" was the whole time. There were many twists and turns to the story and it kept you on the edge of your seat. This was an overall great book.
Jazz
Jazz is definitley my favorite character in I Hunt Killers. You can easily relate to him because he is a teenager that deals with a lot of the same things any ordinary teen deals with in high school. However, Jazz is not your ordinary teenager. He has a very crazy past and it haunts him throughout the entire story. Jazz is such an interesting character that it sometimes is hard to believe he is just a teenager.
Before Reading
Before I read this book, i knew that I would find it interesting. I've never read any book like this and I wanted to see what it was like. I was skeptical at first, thinking and worrying about the possibility of being really cheesy, corny, and down right predictable. Fortunately, i was wrong. The plot was interesting and the ending was surprising. It was a great book.
Favorite Character
In this book, my favorite character was Jazz. His mysterious and troubling past due to his fathers antics as a serial killer made him a very interesting character. His ambition and perseverance made it engaging and interesting to read the book and i always wanted to see what he would do next.
Jazz
In my opinion, I loved Jazz as a narrator and a character in general. His troubled and mysterious past makes him a very interesting character. This mixed with his ambition to solve the mysterious crimes that have been occurring in Lobo's Nod, he catches my eye. His knowledge of murder and manipulation that was passed down by his father Billy who was incarcerated comes in quite handy when he comes across the crime scene in his town. I believe that Jazz was a very well used and created character and he fit the scene nicely.
8/24/13
Unreliable Character
As much as I love Jazz as a narrator, I have to question whether or not unreliable or not. When I say "reliable" I mean whether or not the audience can take what Jazz says as a fact. Being exposed to such terrifying experiences as a child would easliy turn a person insane. Jazz's continuous fear of turning into his father can also lead to his insanity.
Jazz
One of my favorite things about this story is that Jazz is the narrator. I always like having the main character as the narrator so that the audience can have a first look at the character's emotions and see how he or she really feels. In this story especially, it shows us that Jazz could not be a serial killer like his father. This is due to the fact that Jazz deeply cares for his girlfriend, Connie's saftey. A serial killer does not show emotions or feel remorse.
8/22/13
Ending
The ending of this novel was very intense. I was surprised that the author revealed who the killer was. However, I did not like how the author left many unanswered questions. It confused me a little. Also, the author ended the novel with the cliff hanger made me curious.
Favorite Character
My favorite character was Jazz. Unlike teenagers now, he was very mysterious and interesting. In the beginning Jazz was weird because he was watching crime scenes through is binoculars. Also Jazz was a son of Billy Dent which made me worry about him. However, I like Jazz because he is very unpredictable character.
8/21/13
Reading
Before I read the book, I knew that it would be interesting and probably a bit suspenseful and even creepy considering the fact that the book has to do with a serial killer. As I read, I realized that it wasn't just an ordinary, predictable, book about murder. There were several eerie moments that had me wanting to continue to read to find out what would happen. It was a bit scary at some points because of how realistic and vivid the details were. Overall, I really enjoyed reading the novel, I Hunt Killers.
My Favorite Character
As a person reads a novel, he or she will tend to gravitate towards the main character when choosing favorites. I tend to disagree if asked whether or not Jazz is my favorite character. I really like the way the author created the personality of Howie. The novel has a very serious tone to it and I enjoy reading Howie's playful comments on the situations he is in. He lightens the mood and brings always tries to look at the glass as if it is half full.
Jazz
Jazz is spying on a crime scene and sees one of the cops put something in the evidence bag and is surprised to see what it was. It said he got nervous and started going over his alibi, saying that the body looked like it was fresh and that the girl could have died no more that six hours ago. He explained in his head that he was at home asleep six hours ago and his grandma was his witness.. After all of this at the end of the chapter he tells us that it was a human finger. He makes it seem like and builds it up to be his finger I don't understand why the author would do that it didn't make sense to me.
8/20/13
Favorite Character
My favorite character by far is Howie. As a very dependable and loyal friend, he stayed with Jazz even when he was at his worst. Howie helped keep Jazz from becoming what he feared most, his father. Howie also served as very necessary comedic relief, in such a serious and intense book, some form of humor was the only thing keeping the reader from sinking into depression.
Before Reading
Before I read this book, I could tell just by the summary that it would be interesting. I've never gotten the chance to read a serial killer book before, and this seemed like the opportune time. I was a little worried that it was going to be very cliche serial killer book; where everything is over done and everyone is suspicious and whenever you turn the corner you are all of a sudden in an abandoned alley after dark. However, besides those basic concerns, the book seemed interesting and original from anything I've read in the past.
Favorite Character
My favorite character was Howie because he stuck with Jazz through thick and thin when no one else would. Howie was the only person besides maybe Connie who believed that Jazz would not turn out to be like his father, and I believe that Howie was one of the main reason that Jazz remained sane. If Jazz never experienced friendship like he did with Howie, he probably would have turned into his dad.
Jazz's Self Conflict
Throughout the novel, hints are dropped that Jazz will turn into a serial killer, and he is constantly fighting the part of him that wants to be like his dad. At times he fantasizes about killing his grandmother, or says that part of him enjoyed Ginny's death. Because of this, I thought that Jazz would turn into a serial killer. When he didn't at the end, I was surprised, and was left wondering why these hints were dropped in the first place.
The End
Although the end of I Hunt Killer's was shocking and exciting I was left confused about what would happen to the characters. What was Jazz's father's plan now that he has escaped from prison and how will Jazz deal with this? I was excited to find out that there is a sequel titled Game, and I am looking forward to reading it to find out what will happen next.
Before Reading
All of the choices for summer reading sounded really good, but out of all of them I chose I Hunt Killers because it sounded intense and mysterious. Based on the summary and cover I was really excited to read this book. I think I made the right choice by choosing this book because it lived up to all the expectations I had. The story was fast-paced, intriguing and kept me guessing the whole way through.
Life in Jazz's shoes
While reading the book I tried to imagine myself in Jazz's shoes. Having a father as a serial killer Jazz has seen things at a young age no one should have to be exposed to. Jazz was very brave because I don't know what I would do if my own father was a killer. Even when many people doubted Jazz's intentions and expected him to be a killer he attempted to find the real killer. I don't know if I would be as strong as he was if I was placed in his shoes.
The End
After finishing the book I was still left with many unanswered questions like who was helping the impressionist? Also what will happen to Jazz's father now that he's broken out of jail? How will Jazz react to this?
Introduction
The book I Hunt Killers immediately intrigued me. By the very first page you are aware that a crime has been committed. When we later find out that Jazz's father is a notorious serial killer I became even more captivated by the story line. I also really liked Jazz as a character and his motivation to help the police with the investigation, even though the closest thing hes had to training was from his father, the murderer. After the first couple of chapters I really wanted to keep reading to find out who the killer is and whether Jazz would be the one to find him.
Favorite Character
My favorite character from I Hunt Killers was Howie. He was a loyal friend and Jazz's partner in crime. Even when the other kids at school didn't want to be friends with Jazz and everyone expected him to be dangerous like his father, Howie was still friends with him which proves what a good person he is. He was a very funny character even though the book is about a serious crime.
Favorite Character
By far my favorite character has to be Jasper Dent because he is the main character and was just an awesome character. I loved the way he was able to solve the puzzles and mysteries of the new killer in town and was able to succeed in the end. Also, he always cared about his friends, Howie and Connie, even when he had the chance to catch the killer after Howie was stabbed, he stayed with him to make sure he will live. In the end, his friends helped him out so much when Jazz was a hostage.
Introduction
I found the beginning of the novel to be engaging and striking. I liked how it didn't start off slow and boring. I Hunt Killers was a very easy novel to read because from the beginning I couldn't put it down. It opens up to the first murder case which was mysterious and made one want to continue reading. I like mystery novels and this novel was definitely puzzling and interesting from the beginning.
Before Reading
I had a tough time contemplating about which of the book choice I should read this Summer. I read each books' summary over and over again and after some time I was finally able to narrow it down to this book. I am glad to have picked this one because of what a great plot it contained and how well Barry Lyga used the genre of mystery.
Introduction
The Intro to the book was very mysterious and gruesome. I liked how it started off the book with a murder, it made me keep reading on instead of saying this is a really boring book. It reveals that Jazz's dad is a murderer from when he tells jazz different things. Jazz is curious about the investigation.
Favorite Character
My favorite character in "I Hunt Killers" would have to be the main character; Jazz. Jazz is just like his father, he is curious, mysterious, and sometimes complicated. In the beginning of the book when the first body was found he hid out and was curious about was going on, he saw the whole investigation with his binoculars his dad gave him. I do not like the other characters in the book as much as Jazz because there not as different as he is, you never know what Jazz's next move would be.
The Ending
I thought the ending was thrilling and intense. When it was revealed that Billy escaped from jail and Jeff was actually had a desire to kill, it was surprising. I had no predictions that I Hunt Killers would end this way. Jeff aspired to be like Billy and ended up going to jail for wanting to help Jazz kill someone, which Jazz didn't really have intentions to do. I liked the unexpected ending because it had many interesting twists. Although it was gruesome, I still enjoyed it.
8/19/13
Favorite Character
I have to say after finishing the book that Howie is my favorite character. The book was so intense you never knew when a body would be found and the gruesome storyline that went with the murder. Reading the book getting a little spooked at times and than the author gives you Howie. He would come out with silly, goofy comments that would make you laugh and break up the criminal side of the story.
True Friends
I felt the pain that Jazz and Connie felt when Howie was attacked and rushed to the hospital. Jazz being a odd kid and his only true friends are Connie and Howie, if Howie didn't survive I don't think Jazz
would ever forgive himself. Most of all the bond the three of them have is a true friendship. When my friend got hurt, I felt helpless and overcome with fear. Good friends are hard to come by.
would ever forgive himself. Most of all the bond the three of them have is a true friendship. When my friend got hurt, I felt helpless and overcome with fear. Good friends are hard to come by.
Organized or Disorganized
I found it very intriguing how Howie and Jazz were discussing the type serial killer that killed Jane Doe. The both of them compared how Billy was a organized killer that he wouldn't leave any evidence behind just tell about their personality.
Ending
I did enjoy the ending of the book but at the same time I didn't. I didn't like it because they never found the body of Jazz's mother and he had to live with knowing that his mother wasn't there for him. I liked it because it showed that Jazz was finally realizing that his mother wasn't with him. I liked the end because they kept it a mystery and thats what kept me wanting to read it. It was an interesting book because of the mystery part of it.
Chapter 19 - End
The ending of the book was rather suspenseful and it was very interesting. Jazz's dad getting out of jail really surprised, and frankly excited, me. I wasn't sure what would happen because he was roaming free. Would he kill again? I suppose that had an obvious answer, given that he killed so many people before being put in jail, but who would he kill? That question was something that I really had to think about. The fact that the Impressionist was Jeff Fulton, one of Billy Dent's victim's father, really shocked me. I never suspected him. I initially assumed the Impressionist was G.William or Doug Weathers. I didn't even take a moment to consider Jeff Fulton. Though, it really does make sense when you think about it. He was really just so upset about his daughter being killed by Billy Dent and he snapped. It's actually more likely that it was him than anything else that I considered. I liked the cliff hanger at the end, as well. Overall, the book was very good and I enjoyed reading it.
Least Favorite Character
My least favorite character in this novel would probably be Grandma. I didn't like her because she was really annoying and was a burden for Jazz to deal with. She was such an inconvenience that he'd thought about killing her, and if he had done so like the murderer wanted him to at the end I don't think I'd care too much.
Ending
I also thought that the ending was interesting and I liked the plot twists; like the murderer being Jeff Fulton, and unanswered questions and overall enjoyed the ending. But I also didn't really like the fact that Billy escaped at the end, before I even got to the end I knew something like that was going to happen and the way it happened in the book seemed too rushed or last minute. Other than that it was a good book.
Favorite Character
My favorite character was Howie because he was weird and kind of funny at times, he rarely seemed serious and was always making jokes. To me, he was a sort of comic relief in the sense that he was always kidding around and saying stupid things. He didn't really add any mystery to the novel or anything like that, he was just odd and that's what made him my favorite character.
Favorite Character
My favorite character was Jazz because I found him to be the most interesting character in the novel. His background with his father adds to the mystery of his character and morals. I thought he was an interesting because he was unpredictable through out the novel which added to the mystery of his character.
Ending
I found the ending to be very interesting. There were many twist and turns and questions revolving around the part where Jazz's father escaped from jail. The ending answered a few questions, while at the same time leaving even more unanswered questions. I like the fact that the novel's ending was a cliff hanger.

Favorite Character
My favorite character in "I Hunt Killers" was Jazz. I liked him because he a very interesting person to keep up with as the story went on, and he also didn't reflect the image of a usual teenage boy. With him being the son of serial killer, Billy Dent it caused him to live a different life style then a usual teenager and he often would act suspicious in certain situations which would lead you to wonder more about his character. The final reason why Jazz was my favorite character was because at the end he gets a tattoo saying "I Hunt Killers". This directly relates to the title of the book and shows that he is will not follow the same life style as his father.
Ending
This is my critique to the end of the novel.
If you read the ending you would know that Jazz's father, Billy escaped prison, and the Impressionist was Jeff Fulton. Jeff originally pretended to be a father, who's daughter was murdered by Billy Dent, but ultimately - he admired Billy. Jeff wanted Jazz to be like his father, and to assist in Jazz's first kill. As we know, this never happens and the book ends with Jeff going to jail.
In my opinion, I did not really like the ending. One of the things that I did not like was that Billy escaped. It was very last minute, and the only reason why this happened is so the novel can lead to a sequel. Also, did not like the fact that the novel went with one of the most obvious suspects (to me), instead of really sending shock factor, or surprise to me. The ending had a lot of potential, but it was executed poorly.
Still, the novel in general was very interesting, and a decent murder mystery book. Despite the ending, I enjoyed I Hunt Killers, and might get the sequel.

Tattoo
Jazz’s tattoo that says, “I hunt killers” gives Jazz a sort
of closure from his father’s dark past. Jazz’s tattoo gave a meaning to the
title of the book. His tattoo is for no one but him self. The tattoo portrays
how Jazz is not like his father and he never will be.
Tramatizing childhood
I could not imagine what it would be like to be in Jazz’s
shoes. I cannot imagine how he feels to have a father like his. A father who is
a serial killer who tells his young son every little detail about being a
serial killer. Poor Jazz’s childhood was ruined and led him to be traumatized
for life.
The Ending
The revealing of who the killer was at the end of the book was completely unexpected. The story remained action filled right up to the end. It did however leave many unanswered questions. I hope the sequel proves to be as action filled as the first.
What i don't like about this book is the dark humor in it. It gets too freaky and eerie in a sense that its display of cruelty is beyond terrible. Jasper was often made to watch his father kill people, people killed and nailed to the ceiling and how Howie was described as he "bleeds if you look at him hard". As bad as that is, the second half of the book dragged on with terrible story lines. Most of it was filled with horrible mental abuse and strong sexual dialogue. The second half was just written poorly, like the author had nothing left and threw in anything he could think of.

My Favorite Character
My favorite character was definitely Howie. Not only did I love Howie but I loved the relationship between him and Jazz. Howie was really a great friend to Jazz even though he knew about the history involving Jazz's dad. Jazz was also a great friend to Howie as well, especially when Howie was hurt when they were in Ginny's apartment, making sure that Howie was taken care of and that he was helped as fast as possible. Overall Howie was definitely my favorite but the friendship between Jazz and Howie was also one of my favorite parts of the book as well.
All throughout the book the author does a really good job of making you feel like you are apart of the mystery. When there were clues given and every time a new suspect was introduced I felt like I was a part of the mystery. I kept trying to put things together myself while I was reading which basically led me to not wanting to put the book down. Being able to feel like I was with Jazz through everything made the book so much more interesting.
original thoughts
When it came to picking this book, it just sounded more interesting than any of the other choices. And when I first started to read it I became a little confused but once things started to come together I couldn't put the book down. I liked the book as whole however my favorite part of the book was probably how it ended. I really enjoyed how the author ended the book, not only because there can now be a sequel but also because of how he connected the ending with the title revealing the Jazz's tattoo.
End
The ending of the book was very good to me. Just when you thought Jazz would turn on his morals and kill his gramma his friends were there to bail him out. When I first read that part it seemed like it would be another story with a happy ending. But it was not. When they said his dad broke out of jail that made me interested. Also the fact that Jazz may have unknowingly helped his dad out of jail made him feel guilty but at the same time inspired to go hunt down his dad. When it ended saying that there was blood on his head, and lots of it, I wasn't exactly sure what it was saying. I didn't know what was happening, which just made it a really good cliffhanger. It gave a preview to the next book and it made me understand more. After reading this book and the short preview, I want to go and read the sequel.
Intro
The introduction was good to me. In the beginning, it just said there was a body, not who killed it or what happened to it, it just said that there was a body. When it said that Jazz was looking at what happened through binoculars and trying not to be seen I was unsure if he was the killer or not. It said that his dad was a serial killer which led the reader to believe that maybe Jazz did kill her, but it did not verify it. That kind of added to the suspicion of the overall plot. It made me want to continue with reading the book.
Putting myself in Jazz'z shoes
Having a father that is the most infamous serial killer in the world definitely
Takes a toll on your childhood and your mental State. Jazz grew up watching crime scenes from the criminal's point of view... The point of view which cops wish they can see from. I don't really understand how Jazz was able to accept Billy as a father meanwhile he was killing people left and right and showed no care at all. As a teenager myself, if I was in his shoes I don't know if I would either feel tempted to become like my father or be a successful and good human being. I couldn't imagine a childhood with my father as Billy Dent. I don't know if I could handle all of the secrets and suspicion.
My favorite character
In I Hunt Killers, my favorite character happened to be Jazz. The main reason I really enjoyed this character was because he reminded me a lot of Gatsby from "The Great Gatsby." Jazz is such a mysterious character and you could never predict what he was going to do next. It was very suspicious in the beginning when he watched the crime scene, and he became even more suspicious when we learned that Billy Dent was his father. I have always enjoyed reading novels that contain a character that you don't know much about in the beginning, but as you read you find out more
And more information about him.
And more information about him.

Howie
DianaV11- Personally, Howie was one of my favorite characters in this book. What I like most about Howie was that he was a true friend to Jazz and stuck by his side, even after finding out that the father of Jazz, Billy, was a serial killer. I also enjoy the friendship that Jazz and Howie share, especially when Jazz would get tattoos for Howie, because Howie himself is unable to. What I found astonishing, though, was that Howie, unlike many, never complained about his sickness (making jokes about it) even though it is a very serious thing.
What do you think? Was Howie your favorite character, did you just like him, or did you hate him? Who is your favorite character and why?

father and son
i found it quite interesting that jazz's father would get him involved in the same career. Jazz didn't take part in any of the killings but was told about them in great detail through his father. Jazz was in charge of keeping track of his dads trophies through his killings. Having a father that kills people for a living must be horrific to have to deal with. Jazz sat through the killing of the dog and i wonder if Jazz took place in the killing of his mother.
beginning
The novel caught my eye because of the title. All of the other books seemed boring and from reading the summary of I Hunt Killers really caught my attention. After reading through the first couple of chapters i got into it and wanted to read more and more. The book started out hard to follow but i caught up with it as the novel progressed. After catching on it was hard to put the book down.
Cereal and Milk
This book really drew me into the story; it made me feel like I was tagging along a real mystery with Jazz. It also made me feel like I was doing some of the detective work myself, Jazz gives you many details of what a Serial killer is like and what they do and how the blend in as to not arouse suspicion. When we meet different characters/suspects each time the interaction with that character is done I thought about whether they could be the killer or not, using the information from Jazz and his father about serial killers. Even though the end of the mystery fell a bit short I will be picking up the sequel right away, in order to find out all the un answered questions.
I'm not keen at all towards Jasper; he confuses me. He connects himself to a serial killing sociopath, but almost never portrays it. I don't find him likable, other people have and that's fine, just not me. What i don't understand is the sympathy for him. He came off as felling sorry for himself. Jasper repeats himself, i found myself reading the same things he already said more than once. One other blatant thing i don't like at all about Jasper is his nickname. Jazz is a girl's name, and is given to a boy. They say a character's name reflects on who they are but i don't see Jasper acting out like a girl; wimpy maybe but not girly, so that's another puzzling thing about Jasper. Overall, i just don't like Jasper that much. There are good things about him, but that's not the point of this blog post.
Brain Manipulation
When Jazz was growing up he was raised by his dad a serial killer, and he was "brainwashed" into thinking like one, because his father raised him as to be one almost. Teaching him the ins and outs of the trade, so he basically thinks like a serial killer but is not a serial killer, but his town believes that he would be a serial killer considering the way he was raised. He later uses these skills to hunt down the new serial killer in town, before the town suspects that it was his doing. Do you think it was right for his dad to raise him in such a way? If he had never been taught about the serial killer ways then he wouldn't have to worry about being thought of killing someone. Also he would have never been able to find the new serial killer, thus letting him live a peaceful, normal life.
I just finished the book and I have to say I liked it. I ended up finishing it quickly which definitely means it was a good book. I'm still wondering if Jasper really did kill his mom or if his dad is just lying. I almost want to read the sequel to find out. Overall I liked the book and I'm glad I chose it.
Begining
I hadn’t really planned on my summer reading book having a
title “I Hunt Killers” but quickly I figured id try something new and see where
it went as I had missed the book talk for another book I planned on doing. The
first thing this story did was catching my eye. I love mystery and I love quick
pace books that you never want to put down and this book fell under all of
those categories. Although the book started out difficult to follow where we
couldn’t really understand who were who and what was going on with the
characters it quickly took a good turn becoming very unique and suspenseful which
I really began to like and because of it could not put down.
My favorite character
My favorite character in the novel was in fact Jazz. I liked
him because he wasn’t your average and ordinary teenager where he was a more shadowy
character that always keeps things interesting. I feel like your always-questioning
Jazz especially because he watched the cops search a murder scene as well as
having a father who is a legendary serial killer. Jazz falls under the category
of my favorite character because he really does capture you questioning if he
has done something or if he’s going to do something, even if he is hiding
something. I also like how Jazz’ motive to help the police was to prove the
town wrong and that he strives to be nothing like his dad; but overall his
mysterious and mischievous personality is what drew me to him.

Beginning
I chose to read "I Hunt Killers" because the title of the book grabbed my attention, and by reading the summary, I could tell it would be more interesting then the other book choices. I felt that the first few chapters were quite interesting and it kept me wanting to read more. By the first few chapters I was interested to learn about Jazz and his father being a serial killer, and how he dealt with it. I like that it didn't start off with too much useless information, like many other books do and instead it got right into the action of the murder case. This made me begin to wonder what would happen next in the case and who was responsible for the murder.
Final Review
I thought the ending of this book was very clever. I really liked how surprising it was. As well, it was nice to see that it the author left the ending of the book open for a sequel. I hope the sequel is just as suspenseful and interesting because I plan on reading that one too.
The Ending
The ending of I Hunt Killers surprised me, and made me think about everything that occurred in the book. The events towards the end caught me off guard, and completely surprised me. I was not expecting the Impressionist to be someone who looked so innocent however I should have recognized serial killers know how to blend in, and not attract attention to themselves. Finding out the killer at the very end made the ending that much better. Also the other events that occurred made me want more however I felt it ended abruptly. The ending left me wondering and left some of Jazz's questions unanswered. The ending made me want to read the sequel to know more and how it ends. The ending was my favorite part and left me wanting more which made me happy.
This book was very interesting and the concept of it was as well. I really liked the detail that the author provided to the reader of Jazz's life and the way he had to deal with having a serial killer as a father. In addition, I enjoyed the mystery of it all, such as how you didn't know who the killer was until the end. All in all, it was a great suspense novel that kept me turning page after page from cover to cover.

The End/Sequel
The ending of the book did not wrap up all of Jazz's questions (or mine). We are still left to wonder if there is another killer out there who worked with the "Impressionist" since the note about not harming Jazz was not written in either his dad's or the Impressionist's handwriting. Also, since Jazz's dad escaped from jail we cannot be certain that the killings in the sequel, Game, are being done by his dad or the person who was working with the Impressionist. We can be sure that Jazz will not rest until he finds out. I am actually interested in reading the Game. This surprises me because when I started reading I Hunt Killers I was sure it was not going to keep my interest. I am glad that I was proven wrong and enjoyed the book.
Intro
I liked the beginning of the book because it really caught my eye. I personally enjoy books about mystery so this book defiantly fit into that. The way they started off with the book is what made it be such a good book. They started it off kind of mysterious because the body appeared and the cops were there and they had to figure what had happened. I think that this books beginning really stood out and made me want to continue reading it.

My Opinion
My opinion on this book is that it was very intense. First, I liked how it was very concise and to the point. It wasn't boring. At the end when Jazz got a tattoo saying, "I Hunt Killers," I finally understood the author's intention to the title. Jazz showed how he will go on a different road from his father and avoid becoming a serial killer.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspicious and mysterious books. This book was very intense and I think that most people will enjoy this book.

Best Friends
Howie and Jazz have an unique relationship that allows them to be best friends. Jazz needed some laughter in his life after going through all the crimes his father committed. Knowing about Jazz's cruel past, Howie still stood beside him and didn't let it ruin their relationship. i liked how Howie didn't mind about Jazz's father. Howie was the funny one who tried to brighten things up and I liked him as soon as he was introduced to the book.
Intro
After reading the first few chapters of I Hunt Killer, I found this book intense. I liked how it jumped right in to the case without leading in to it. Jazz's father, Billy Dent, is a serial killer who has messed up and impacted Jazz's mind. Therefore, Jazz is capable of killing a person. This book was very intense in the beginning and it intrigued me to continue.
Favorite Character
My favorite character in
this novel was Jazz. What made me like him was the fact that he was so
mysterious and we didn’t know so much about him but he was the most interesting
one. At first jazz seemed so sketchy because it seemed like he enjoyed watching
the crime scene through his binoculars. When we found out Dent was Jazz’s
father I 100% suspicious of him. Even though we knew that, I always changed my
opinion on Jazz.
